SoDown Releases Reggae-Fueled Bass EP, ‘Get Up’ [Stream/Listen]

Saxophone-playing production maestro SoDown has released his Get Up EP after teasing music to his fans via a cryptic three-part video series.

The first video showed SoDown dripping hot wax onto a letter which he stamped with his moniker’s emblem. Behind-the-scenes, 30 fans received letters and were tasked with solving the cypher inside, which revealed “new EP coming soon.” Recipients then shared their discoveries in the 4,000+ member Facebook community, reveling in curiosity with fellow fans.

The final video ended with the producer uploading HQ Get Up EP audio files to SoDown-branded USBs, which were mailed to superfans who shared amongst the The GetDown group.

Out now via his own GetDown Records, Get Up is a gripping, dub-focused, three-song collection fusing bass music with organic instrumentation. The project kicks off with “Get Up,” a collaboration with Canadian genre-bending beatmaker Defunk for a synth-forward, reggae-fueled bass anthem decorated with SoDown’s blooming saxophone nods.

The second track “Badboi Sound” is a differentiating track from the EP’s trendsetter. The gigantic, vibrant dubstep banger holds down steady with monstrous synths, but is carried down with the EP’s dance-floor anthem closer “Serious Dub.”

Following his debut performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre five years ago as support for Pretty Lights, SoDown is making his triumphant return to the iconic venue this Friday, April 8th as a part of the ‘”Boogie T On The Rocks” celebration. Succeeding his Red Rocks set, the saxophone-wielding bass purveyor will tour the U.S. and while not headlining a show in Utah, will play for fans at Flagstaff, AZ’s Yucca North on April 16th, Tempe, AZ’s Sunbar on May 14th, and George, WA’s The Gorge Amphitheatre on May 28th.
