[Originally published 11/18/21]: Skull & Roses has announced its triumphant return to California’s legendary Ventura County Fairgrounds on April 7th-10th, 2022.

After having to postpone its 2020 installment due to the pandemic, the four-day festival will return for its 4th year exploring the unique interpretations of the Grateful Dead and the global community that surrounds it. Just under 11 hours from central Salt Lake City, music fans can celebrate with continuous music on a turntable stage throughout the weekend at the same seaside site where 11 Grateful Dead concerts occurred from 1982-1987. This year’s festival expects its highest attendance yet, hosting daily themes, parades, artisans vendors, local beer and food, yoga, and sound healing.

For the first time ever, original Grateful Dead bass player Phil Lesh will headline the festival alongside his live band, taking the music of the Grateful Dead to a new level. Additionally, Dark Star Orchestra will add their Grateful Dead live concert experience to the festival’s lineup, offering new improvisations to the classic ballads and seeking out new styles and sounds through each era of the band. Skull & Roses will also host Oteil & Friends for its second festival appearance, as well as Melvin Seals & JGB for their fourth.

While this year’s rendition will offer a surplus of Grateful Dead-dedicated music, the festival will also boast performances by Jackie Greene, Keller Williams, Circles Around The Sun, Midnight North, Pink Talking Fish, and more. See below the full 2022 music lineup.
