Tame Impala, Diana Ross, Brockhampton, More To Cover ’60s & ’70s Hits On ‘Minions 2’ Soundtrack
If you’re a movie and music fanatic like us, then you’re in for a special treat. The soundtrack for the highly anticipated Minions: The Rise Of Gru will feature a star-studded lineup of artists paying tribute to the hits of the ‘60s and ‘70s.
The Jack Antanoff (Bleachers) produced Despicable Me spin-off sequel soundtrack will come out alongside its film counterpart on July 1st via Decca Records. The lead single features an iconic original collaboration between Diana Ross and Tame Impala called, “Turn Up The Sunshine,” which will come out on May 20th.
Produced and curated by Antonoff, the 18-track soundtrack will feature a mix of original tracks while placing an emphasis on some of today’s biggest artists covering timeless older songs. Notable features include St. Vincent covering Lipp, Inc.‘s “Funky Town,” Brockhampton covering Kool & The Gang’s “Hollywood Swinging,” Thundercat covering Steve Miller Band’s “Fly Like An Eagle,” Phoebe Bridgers covering The Carpenters’ “Goodbye To Love,” and H.E.R. covering Sly & The Family Stone’s “Dance To The Music.”
