EARTHGANG Blends Hip-Hop, Soul, Trap & Funk In New Sophomore Album, ‘GHETTO GODS’

Atlanta-based rap powerhouse duo Earthgang has finally arrived with their sophomore studio album, GHETTO GODS, out via Dreamville Records.

After teasing it for several months and hosting a hometown listening party, the duo – comprised of Olu and WowGr8 – had to postpone their initial January 28th release date after the album wasn’t cleared on streaming platforms in time. Now, GHETTO GODS arrives in its final form, three years following their last original full-length project, Mirrorland.

GHETTO GODS comes packaged in a 17-song collection spanning just under one hour. Listeners will be keen on hearing the duo’s soulful and funk-inspired instrumentals underscored by their energetic rap verses. The album features star-studded collaborations, including Future on “BILLI,” JID and Dreamville founder J. Cole on “WATERBOYZ,” Musiq Soulchild’s gospel and trap-infused “AMEN,” Baby Tate on “BLACK PEARLS,” Lynae Vanee on “NEEZY’S WALK,” CeeLo Green and Nick Cannon on “POWER,” and Ari Lennox on “RUN TOO.”

“We started this album in the middle of the world shifting and realities changing. We regrouped and turned our focus inward to our city, our community and ourselves. We…talked for hours on the direction we wanted to go, what we wanted to say, what we wanted to keep and what we wanted to transform,” the duo said in a social media post. “The beats got crazier, the hooks became more direct and every word uttered on this album has meaning. We wanted more black women, more black people, more global presence, more vibes for our CORE Fanbase. We wanted you to learn, feel, and jam the f*ck out at the same time. That’s what life’s been like lately. Learning and feeling but what’s life without music? No matter how hard or easy it gets we need music to help us through. Shout out to all the features we have on this album. Real Respect to everyone, they brought their genius and their own creative vibes. Shoutout to all the producers who truly love music. Every record sounds different but they all carry the same energy. We played this album for damn near 2,000 people before it dropped, fans, stars, legends, strangers and they all said the same thing. “THIS SH*T IS JAMMING!!” We painted with a different brush and came out with another work of art.”
