Drake & Kanye West Make Amends, Announce ‘Free Larry Hoover’ Benefit Concert
The decades-long feud and competition between Drake and Kanye West (Ye) has finally come to an end…for now. The two international hip-hop stars have announced they will perform together at Los Angeles, CA’s LA Memorial Coliseum on Thursday, December 9th for a concert benefitting Larry Hoover.
After posting a video on Instagram alongside J. Prince earlier this month, Ye called upon Drake to put aside their disputes and join him onstage to raise awareness on the Chicago gang leader’s case. Last week, all three posted a photo together, hinting to the settled dispute. Over the weekend, it was revealed through a posting of Hoover’s face on the hip-hop stars’ Instagram profiles that there would be a benefit concert advocating for Hoover’s release.
“I Believe This Event Will Not Only Bring Awareness to Our Cause but Prove to People Everywhere How Much More We Can Accomplish When We Lay Our Pride Aside and Come Together,” said Ye in a press release.
“Bringing These Two Great Artists Together for the Culture and the Cause of Prison Reform Has Been an Honor” continued J Prince. “Through My Work with Larry Hoover and His Family, I’ve Really Had My Eyes Opened to the Plight Of Incarcerated People in This Country, and I Hope Fans of Ye and Drake Will Take the Time to Do the Same.”
“With Ye, Drake, and J Prince United to Advocate For My Father’s Release, We Can Take Our Plea For Redemption Worldwide And Show That We Are Truly Stronger Together On Behalf Of Any and Everyone with a Love One Wrongly Or Unjustly Incarcerated…. Free My Father!” added Larry Hoover Jr.
The Gangster Disciples co-founder, Hoover, is currently serving six life sentences in connection with the 1973 murder of a 19-year-old drug dealer. He’s been continuously referenced in hip-hop culture for his legal situation, including on Ye’s latest album, Donda. Ye met with former President Donald J. Trump back in 2018 to advocate for Hoover’s release, with no luck.
Drake’s relationship amendment with Ye comes following his recent $2 billion ongoing Astroworld lawsuit in conjunction with Travis Scott, Live Nation, and Apple. Hopefully his amendment with Ye is true-hearted and not a poised publicity stunt to over shine his involvement in the tragic deaths of 10 fans at the Texas hip-hop festival.
Tickets for the Larry Hoover benefit concert with Kanye West and Drake are now on sale here. Head to the venue’s website for more information.
