Atmosphere Announce New Album WORD?, Release Four-Song Maxi-Single, “WORD? Side A” [Listen]
Today, underground hip-hop titans Atmosphere have announced their forthcoming album, WORD?. Due out on October 8th via Rhymesayers Entertainment, the announcement comes with a first look inside the project with the new music video for “Woes” and a four song maxi-single “WORD? Side A.”
Directed by Roxana Baldovin, the music video features Slug as a shark out of water, musing on the inevitable struggles of interpersonal relationships and the labors of love. The light-hearted visuals and earnest sentiments are complemented by a summery, reggae-influenced track from producer Ant.

WORD? veers toward Atmosphere’s signature sound, highlighting the classic boom-bap aesthetic and bringing a unique energy out of Slug’s wisdom and delivery of the lyrics. From the razor-sharp snares and warm basslines in the album opener “Fleetwood,” to the resonant lyrics in “Woes,” the album plays like a joyride through a range of experiences, hardships, and emotions. The album features an extensive cast of special guests, including Evidence, Muja Messiah, Musab, Nino Bless, Nikki Jean, Anwar HighSign, BlackLiq, Sa-Roc, Haphduzn, Lateef the Truthspeaker, Aesop Rock, and the late MF DOOM, resulting in a perfect dish of music scoring Atmosphere’s talents with the beauty of their growth.
