Andrew Bird, Iron & Wine Announce 2022 ‘Outside Problems’ Tour
After the pandemic foiled plans for a 2020 tour, Andrew Bird and Iron & Wine are finally hitting the road for a co-headlining summer 2022 Outside Problems Tour.
True to its name, the majority of the tour will take place at outdoor venues across the United States, with dates scheduled from June to August. The two will kick off at Phoenix, AZ on June 12th and circle up through California, Oregon, and Washington before headlining Salt Lake City, UT on June 21st. The venue for SLC’s show has yet to be announced. From there, the two will headline Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre on June 22nd with Neko Case, and continue with 18 additional states spanning across the U.S.
“It will have been more than two years of being grounded when we finally embark on the Outside Problems summer tour,” Andrew Bird stated. “90% outdoor venues. A fine road companion in Iron & Wine. I only wish it could happen sooner. I’m not sure why it took so long for me to meet Sam Beam. His music I have known and admired for many years now. What a lovely guy. The kind of guy that would help you move. See you on the outside.”
“Really looking forward to sharing the night with Andrew Bird for the Outside Problems Tour—our relationship started outside in Yosemite and bringing that into 2022 is exciting,” added Beam. “And I’m happy to help Andrew move, but I might try to talk him into just staying put first!”
Bird and Beam collaborated earlier this year for a “Play for the Parks” digital live acoustic series at Yosemite National Park’s Tenya Lake and Cathedral Beach. Presented by Lucky Brand and La Blogothèque, the series raised funds to help preserve the country’s national parks. See their performances below.
